The Long Beach Naval Shipyard industrial area encompassed 119 acres with 165 buildings. There was 2.4 million square feet of covered building space. The role of the shipyard was the overhaul and maintenance of conventionally-powered U.S. Navy surface ships, as well as to serve as the homeport for several auxiliary ships during its operating history. NBA provided an energy audit of the existing facilities and reported our findings regarding energy conservation and management planning for the entire shipyard complex.
