LA Metro’s Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor—Walsh-Shea Corridor Constructors— Los Angeles, CA

This $2.058B Crenshaw/LAX Transit design/build project is comprised of an 8.5-mile light-rail line with eight stations, including Leimert Park and Hindry. The rail line runs between the Expo line on Exposition Blvd. and the Metro Green Line. It consists of aerial (La Brea Ave. / La Cienega Blvd. and 405 Freeway / Century Blvd.) and below-grade segments (Exposition Blvd. to 48th St. / Los Angeles International Airport South Runways) with all of the remaining area at-grade. In addition to the alternative transportation option to congested roadways, this project will also provide significant environment benefits, economic development and employment opportunities throughout Los Angeles County.

NBA provided electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection engineering for 4 at-grade stations including Hindry Station, Florence-La Brea Station, Florence-West Station and Slauson Station for the City of Inglewood and the City of Los Angeles. NBA’s scope included HVAC, plumbing, fire protection (dry chemical system) for the underground TC and C rooms and platform areas, power distribution system, fire alarm and lighting systems, grounding and emergency power systems for the stations including TC & C rooms and platforms, and site lighting for the Park & Ride. Furthermore, NBA provided QA/QC coordination through collaborating with the multiple disciplines involved and responding to and incorporating comments from Metro, the contractor, and third party and interdisciplinary reviews.
