LA Metro’s PLE, Section 2 project is a $1.37 B construction contract that is extending trackage 2.6 miles from the Western/Wilshire station through Beverly Hills to Century City. NBA provided mechanical engineering for a multifaceted and vast array of features and details pertaining to the tunnel ventilation systems and emergency ventilation air distribution system for Wilshire Rodeo, Constitution and Cross Passages OPE System. Some of these features and details included smoke shafts through the concourse CFM & Press section, Cross system area of OPE Plenum, CFM & Velocity, CSE System ducted to fan rooms per Metro directive, track dampening, verification of use of wall mounted fans, their CFM’s & FSD and alternating their location on adjacent cross passages, emergency fan low speed, and others. Also, NBA provided coordination of 2-D (AutoCAD) & 3-D (BIM/Revit) modeling for the design and used Navisworks Platform for accuracy to avoid errors and site downtimes and eliminate encountering any workflow clash based on Metro Standards.
